One of the 10 best films of the year new on Netflix from today: crime mystery fun.

Finally, the next mystery thriller with Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc is available on Netflix. Starting today, you can stream the “Knives Out” sequel “Glass Onion” – and it’s worth it.

In our just-released list of the best films of 2022, “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” didn’t land as high up as “Knives Out” did two years ago (then ranked 3rd), but it’s enough for a place in the top 10. And it may have nothing to do with the fact that the sequel is not quite as strong as its predecessor, but rather that some colleagues may have saved the crime thriller sequel for the holidays and were thus unable to include it in their list when voting.

So, just in time for Christmas, Netflix is releasing “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” today, so you can stream it with the family

“GLASS ONION: A KNIVES OUT MYSTERY”: BENOIT BLANC ON A MURDER HUNT AGAIN

Daniel Craig returns as the equally brilliant and idiosyncratic detective Benoit Blanc. This time he accepts a seemingly surprising invitation from tech billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) to his private island. There he has actually gathered his dazzling circle of friends to escape the Corona pandemic. A little distraction is to be provided by a murder-mystery game that Miles has prepared. But then there is a real dead body…

In the sequel to his worldwide success, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” director Rian Johnson cuts back a little on the guesswork. For those who look attentively enough at the right moments (and on Netflix, in contrast to the cinema screening, there is also the option to pause and/or rewind) will know early on who is responsible for the murder. But that doesn’t matter.

Because “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” offers enough surprises and twists besides – and above all is a lot of fun. Rian Johnson has once again increased the comedy aspect. This is helped by terrific surprise appearances and a brilliant main cast that includes, besides Craig and Norton, the sensational Janelle Monáe as well as Dave Bautista, Kate Hudson, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr, Madelyn Cline and Jessica Henwick.
