Action adventure new on Netflix: Great puzzle hunt with elaborate effects and Spider-Man star Tom Holland

Hollywood has criminally neglected one of its most exciting genres: adventure films. But today, Netflix launches one of the latest representatives of this category, which gives new hope for treasures, world travel and action

Who hasn’t dreamed as a child of finding a mysterious map full of enigmatic clues? To go on an adventure with it and find a treasure shrouded in legend? Anyone who retains this inner child will never completely lose their enthusiasm for adventure films. Mysteries of lost civilizations, scavenger hunts in the jungle – there’s not much of that left at the moment.

But fortunately, with Uncharted on Netflix, there is now a new scavenger hunt for home cinema. The film takes us through time-honored cities, high above the clouds and onto the turquoise blue ocean. And with Tom Holland, it finally sets the stage for a new hero who could revive the adventure genre.

Uncharted on Netflix is a classic treasure hunt around the world

Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) aka Nate is a normal bartender. Well, maybe he occasionally steals from his wealthy clientele. Maybe he has a predisposition to trickery. And maybe he’s secretly looking for his missing brother Sam, with whom he always wanted to search for the lost treasure of the explorer Ferdinand Magellan.

Nate receives his first real sign of life from Sam through one of his victims. Victor “Sully” Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) doesn’t let himself be stolen from so easily and needs Nate’s help to find both Sam and Magellan’s gold treasure

The unlikely duo is forced to become a team when another party sets off on a treasure hunt: Santiago Moncada (Antonio Banderas) and his unscrupulous entourage. Moncada is the descendant of the nobles who helped finance Magellan’s voyages. In his opinion, he is legally entitled to the treasure. And he

will stop at nothing to get his hands on it.
But Nate and Sully have other plans and won’t let even the most vicious enemy moves stop them. The search soon takes them all around the world and to places as breathtaking as they are dangerous.

Uncharted gives hope to an ingenious but dying genre thanks to Tom Holland

Uncharted is one thing above all: a new, fresh adventure film. This genre was once one of the most important in Hollywood and, for many, was what made people fall in love with cinema in the first place. But the great adventurers of our time are unfortunately still the same as they were over 20 years ago. Who is currently traveling with us into the unknown? An 80-year-old Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Fortune, an ageing Tom Hanks in Inferno.

But Uncharted blows the dust off the adventure box. Enter Tom Holland. He is the heart of what is finally a truly dynamic and fast-paced chase around the globe. Holland is clearly enjoying his role and is not a bit worn out. He is charming, wide awake and ready for any action. Holland is as enigmatically clever as he is amiable and yet never at a loss for a line or a kick.

Uncharted simply puts you in a good mood, because nobody slows down the necessary pace and a new generation takes the helm. A generation that we should see more of. Because even in a modernized world with fewer and fewer blind spots on the map, there is still so much to discover, so much to experience. And Tom Holland, alias Nathan Drake, has plenty to do
