In the Netflix series top 10, a crime series has taken the lead, confronting a lawyer with tricky cases. It is not the first film adaptation with this character.
Last week, on October 17, 2024, The Lincoln Lawyer returned to Netflix. This week, the third season has worked its way to number one in the series charts. The reunion with Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) apparently convinces many as an unusual legal drama. The character already had his own movie with a star cast 13 years ago.

When the series started two years ago, The Lincoln Lawyer took the lead on Netflix and was described as “ugly but captivating”. What makes this crime format so unusual is that the eponymous defense attorney does not have a traditional law office, but operates out of his car, a Lincoln Navigator.
In addition to flashbacks to Mickey Haller’s past and his marriage to his great love Maggie (Neve Campbell), the lawyer has to deal with the murder of a call girl in season 3. The matter is complicated by the fact that he knew Gloria Dayton (Fiona Rene) personally because he had once successfully defended her in court. However, his current client, who is said to have killed the sex worker, maintains his innocence.
Series creators Ted Humphrey (The Unit) and David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies) are not the only ones who have discovered The Lincoln Lawyer as a thrilling protagonist: Brad Furman (The Infiltrator) already filmed the first novel of the crime series by US author Michael Connelly, The Client, in 2011, with Matthew McConaughey in the leading role of the motorized lawyer.
