While the Marvel Cinematic Universe has recently postponed most of its projects, Sony is continuing to rapidly expand its own Marvel universe. Three films await us next year from Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU). First up is the arrival of an all-new superhero: Madame Web.

In Madame Web, Dakota Johnson takes on the role of the eponymous Marvel character, whose real name is Cassandra “Cassie” Webb and who is an everyday heroine as a paramedic. But then she finds out that she has supernatural abilities: Cassie can see into the future.
Her life is soon turned upside down. In addition, a mysterious villain is up to mischief in New York, who at first glance looks like an evil Spider-Man. Cassie is given an important assignment: to protect three young women. Only gradually does she find out what secret they are really hiding.

For Johnson, Madame Web marks her biggest blockbuster role to date. She became famous as Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades of Grey films. In addition, she has also thrilled audiences in the erotic thriller A Bigger Splash, the romcom How to Be Single, the horror reinvention Suspiria and the indie drama Cha Cha Real Smooth. Now we’re excited to see how she fares as the first female superhero in Sony’s Marvel universe
Madame Web joins the two Venom films starring Tom Hardy and the Jared Leto-led Morbius as the fourth film in Sony’s Marvel universe. However, you don’t necessarily need to have seen the other films to understand the story. Madame Web is described as a stand-alone adventure. Madame Webb gathers a strong cast around Dakota Johnson in Sony’s Marvel universe
A psychological thriller with action elements and a strong cast: alongside Johnson, we can look forward to Euphoria discovery Sydney Sweeney. They are joined by newcomers Celeste O’Connor (Ghostbusters: Legacy) and Isabela Merced (Dora and the Golden City) in important supporting roles. The cast is rounded off by Emma Roberts (Nerve), Adam Scott (Severance) and Tahar Rahim (The Cut).
Madame Web was directed by S.J. Clarkson, who has made a name for herself as a director in the series sector. She gained her first Marvel experience with Jessica Jones and The Defenders. Madame Web was written by the author duo Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, who have written fantasy blockbusters such as Dracula Untold and Gods of Egypt as well as Morbius.
