The dragons will fly again this summer. Finally, because fans have been waiting two years for the return of House of the Dragon. Now there are finally new insights into season 2 of the fantasy series, which is set around 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones. HBO has released two different trailers for the new episodes

A reminder: This is how House of the Dragon season 1 ended
In the first season, House of the Dragon told the story of how two young women become enemies in the power struggle at the court of King’s Landing. On one side is the king’s daughter Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy), on the other Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke), Rhaenyra’s childhood friend and the king’s second wife. Although the Targaryen daughter is chosen as heir to the throne, Alicent subsequently gives birth to further (male) heirs.
The conflict therefore escalates in the finale of the first season. King Viserys dies and Alicent takes steps to install her son Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney) as king. In the ensuing conflict, Rhaenyra’s youngest son Luke is killed by Aegon’s brother Aemond. This means that a war between the “Blacks” (Rhaenyra’s faction) and the “Greens” (Alicent’s faction) for the throne of the Seven Kingdoms can no longer be averted.

Season 2 will continue this conflict with some shocking twists and turns, which will of course not be spoiled at this point.
