Children are the epitome of innocence and in the dystopian world of Panem, they of all people must kill each other until only one remains. With this cruel premise, Suzanne Collins wrote the acclaimed young adult book series The Hunger Games. Nine years later, another novel was adapted to tell the story of the tenth Hunger Games. The Tributes of Panem – The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes has been released in 4K UHD quality.
Much praise for the fourth installment of the Hunger Games series
The fourth installment is the weakest film financially for the 3.2 billion franchise. The box office takings were less than half of the other parts, which is hardly surprising. With such popular trailblazers, it is difficult to seamlessly build on the successes after nine years, yet the reviews were very positive.
Some people were already talking about the “best Hunger Games film” in the first reactions shortly after the movie was released. Rotten Tomatoes also gave the film a strong 89 percent positive audience rating, putting it in joint first place with Catching Fire among the most popular parts, although the trade press reacted less effusively with 64 percent.
The consensus praises the performance of stars Rachel Zegler and Tom Blyth. The latter gives the later villain Coriolanus Snow more depth and complexity, keeping the adaptation close to the original novel. The rest of the cast, consisting of Peter Dinklage, Jason Schwartzman and Viola Davis, also deliver strong performances
