Alles steht Kopf is one of the best animated films of recent years and is finally getting a sequel in 2024. It had creative support from nine teenage girls.
With a community rating of 7.8 points, Alles steht Kopf is the highest-rated animated film in over ten years on Moviepilot. On Rotten Tomatoes the emotionally charged adventure also has an incredible score of 98 percent positive press reviews. So it’s no wonder that the sequel is now eagerly awaited.
In Upside Down 2, Riley has reached the difficult phase of adolescence and is once again struggling with all kinds of emotions, including a few new additions. In order to portray this as realistically as possible, the team behind the animated sequel enlisted the help of people who can best relate to Riley’s story: Teenage girls.
Animated adventure Upside Down 2 had advice from a group of teenagers
As Pixarpost reports, director Kelsey Mann and producer Mark Nielsen rounded up a group of nine teenage girls to represent the protagonist’s interests as “Riley’s Crew”. During the production process, the teenagers were invited to the studio every four months to take a look at the current status of the film. They were asked to comment on whether what they had seen corresponded to their own youthful experiences.
While there were fittingly supposed to be nine new emotions in Everything Stands on its Head 2, Mann and author Meg LeFauve finally had to decide on a selection. So in the sequel, we will make new acquaintances with doubt, boredom, envy and shame, whereas guilt, jealousy and schadenfreude did not make it into the movie.
