Shot minimally over 5 nights in director James Ward Byrkit’s home, Coherence proves that impressive sci-fi movies don’t always need space battles or flying cars. The increasingly complex plot unfolds with enjoyable suspense. Now, according to Deadline, a sequel is on the way. Filmmaker Byrkit explained:
Since the movie came out, I’ve been inundated with suggestions for sequels and remake offers. But none of it inspired us until [producer] Kate Andrews sent me an email with two words that unlocked this box. Either she’s a genius or from a parallel reality where Alex Manugian and I have already written the movie she’s pitching us now.
However, he doesn’t reveal which two magic words kicked off the sci-fi sequel or how Coherence 2 will tie in with the previous film. The plot details will presumably be closely guarded by Schrödinger’s cat until the release
