The Rookie creator Alexi Hawley is back on Netflix with another series about a trainee investigator. But it’s not about cops, it’s about CIA spies
Fans of The Rookie who are currently waiting for the 7th season of the cop series could pass the time with another format from series creator Alexi Hawley on Netflix. He seems to have a love for inexperienced greenhorns at work, because we’re talking about the espionage thriller The Recruit with Noah Centineo as a rookie agent
The Recruit from The Rookie creator on Netflix
In the spy series, young lawyer Owen Hendricks (Centineo) is still brand new to the CIA when he is suddenly plunged into the dangerous world of international espionage. Eastern European informant Max Meladze (Laura Haddock), who is in prison for the murder of a trucker, threatens to release top secret information if she is not released from prison.
While navigating the case, Owen gets caught between dangerous fronts with political motives and ultimately has to risk his life in order to fulfill his duties and get out of the matter in one piece.
Main actor Centineo previously appeared in Netflix rom-coms such as To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and The Perfect Date and also starred in the superhero flick Black Adam. A second season of his spy series, which he also oversees as executive producer, is currently in the works and should be online by 2025 at the latest.
You can currently stream eight episodes of The Recruit on Netflix. And the German series trailer looks like this:
When will there be new episodes of The Rookie?
If you only swear by the greenhorn format The Rookie with Nathan Fillion as a slightly older rookie cop, you’ll have to be patient. Season 7 will not be released until 2025 and does not yet have an official start date.
Netflix currently only has four seasons of The Rookie available. For seasons five and six, you have to turn to the streaming services WOW and Sky Go.
