With Alex Cross, Amazon Prime Video has landed another thriller hit after Reacher. There is now good news for fans: Season 2 is already certain and coming faster than expected.
In the Amazon series Alex Cross, streaming on Prime Video since November 14, 2024, Aldis Hodge stars as a brilliant investigator and forensic psychologist who, in the first season, must navigate a serial killer case, the murder of his wife, and a possible threat to his family.
But the story of the crime thriller is far from over after eight episodes. Amazon already announced an extension to Season 2 in April of this year. And it gets even better: the return of Alex Cross is closer than expected.
Alex Cross Season 2 is ready: But when does it start on Amazon?
In the world of streaming series, fans are already accustomed to waiting several years for new seasons. But Alex Cross is not one of them. As series creator Ben Watkins confirmed in October (via Screenrant), season 2 is already fully shot.
Even though the second season of Alex Cross is already finished, there is unfortunately still no start date for the new episodes. However, we expect the next season to hit Prime Video in summer or fall 2025.
What happens in Alex Cross Season 2?
Unfortunately, it is not yet known exactly which new Alex Cross case can be expected in season 2. Although the Amazon series is based on the more than 30-volume series by James Patterson, it does not adapt any specific novels or storylines. The serial killer Ed Ramsey (Ryan Eggold) was also an original creation for the series adaptation.

However, one thing is certain: the fanboy-killers’ case is just the beginning of a larger story that could in the future cover the hunt for their influential allies. While the return of Alex Cross and his family and colleagues around partner John Sampson (Isaiah Mustafa) is guaranteed, season 2 will see the introduction of some new characters.
Three new actors have already been announced: Matthew Lillard (Scream) takes on the role of ruthless entrepreneur Lance, while Jeanine Mason (Upload) can be seen as vengeful judge Rebecca. Also new to the cast is Wes Chatham (The Expanse) as right-wing veteran Donnie.
