Watch the horror trailer at your own risk: the new Stephen King adaptation is already unsettling

A cursed monkey causes bloodbaths and horror in the new horror film by Longlegs director Osgood Perkins – based, of course, on a Stephen King novel.

Even the short teaser for the new film by Osgood Perkins generated plenty of anticipation among horror fans. Now the long trailer for The Monkey has also been released and is likely to generate further dark hype. As the detailed reasoning behind the adult rating reveals, watching it is at your own risk.

New Stephen King horror: The Monkey trailer is disturbing with blood and bowling balls

After the success of Longlegs, Osgood Perkins (son of Psycho actor Anthony Perkins) has brought stars like Elijah Wood (Lord of the Rings), Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) and Theo James (Divergent) in front of the camera for his new horror film. The first poster promised: “Everyone dies. And that’s really sick.” The trailer contains more evidence for this claim… if you dare to watch it:

Based on a short story by horror writer Stephen King, The Monkey confronts twins Bill and Hal with an apparently cursed monkey toy that sets off a series of horrific deaths. Years later, when the brothers have grown up and believe they have left the curse behind them, the cuddly toy’s ominous cymbals ring out again, bringing blood and ruin. The horror film was produced by James Wan (The Conjuring), among others.
