We’ve been waiting over a year for the new season of Criminal Minds. Now the popular serial killer series is finally returning to German television with new episodes.
When it comes to the most successful crime series of our time, one title should not be missing: Criminal Minds. For two decades, the cases of the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) have thrilled a worldwide audience. After the latest season was already available to watch in streaming, the local free TV premiere is now awaiting us.

When do the new Criminal Minds episodes air on TV?
Sat.1 is now showing two new episodes of season 17 of Criminal Minds every Tuesday at prime time, which is also season 2 of Criminal Minds: Evolution. In total, this includes ten episodes, which means that Criminal Minds will be with us well into April. The following chapters will be available to kick things off:
- Episode 1 comes on March 11, 2025 at 8:15 p.m.
- Episode 2 comes on March 11, 2025 at 9:20 p.m.
The episodes will be repeated on Sat.1 from 12:10 a.m. Alternatively, you can stream the new episodes on Joyn+ by subscription. The second season of Criminal Minds: Evolution is already available in full on Disney+. Paramount+ offers all episodes of the original.
What’s the deal with the weird season count?
Criminal Minds ran for 15 seasons as an ordinary network series on linear television on the US channel CBS. After a short break, the format was revised as a streaming series under the title Criminal Minds: Evolution. The special feature: From now on, the seasons will have fewer episodes and a continuous storyline.
If we take it exactly, we are dealing with the second season of Criminal Minds: Evolution. However, it is not uncommon for the season number of the original series to simply be counted up, so that we are now on the seventeenth season of Criminal Minds. Sat.1 officially lists the series as Criminal Minds: Evolution in the TV program.
What is Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 about?
David Rossi (Joe Mantegna) and his team are once again on the hunt for various serial killers who are up to no good in the USA. In the very first episode, one of their most sinister opponents appears in the form of Gold Star. Because he goes to great lengths to remove the eyeballs of his victims.
One change in the new season: Josh Stewart, who appeared in the series for many seasons as Detective Will LaMontagne Jr., is completely absent from the second season of Criminal Minds: Evolution. The character’s whereabouts are explained by the fact that LaMontagne Jr. is currently busy with other cases. In January 2024, Stewart confirmed that his days as LaMontagne Jr. in the Criminal Minds universe are over.
