The Exorcist is getting another sequel 50 years after its theatrical release. In the new trailer for the sequel, the heroine of the original meets an old demon.

The Exorcist is not only considered a horror movie masterpiece, but is notorious for the extreme effect it had on its audience. Later this year, after 50 years, the sequel The Exorcist: Confession is set to arrive. The new trailer has original heroine Chris MacNeil (Ellen Burstyn) encountering the demon that already tormented her daughter in the 1973 film.

Horror movie brings back horror after 50 years: will audiences get sick again?

In The Exorcist: Confession, a demon takes possession of two little girls. Father Victor Fielding (Leslie Odom Jr.) seeks help from Chris MacNeil, who endured a similar ordeal decades ago. In the new trailer, the demon taunts MacNeil with the fate of her daughter from Part 1.

Whether the Exorcist sequel will have a similar impact as the original is questionable. In 1973, people are said to have vomited in rows, allegedly fainted or even had a heart attack (via New York Post ). 50 years and films like Terrifier 2 later, such chaos seems hard to imagine.
